“For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” – 2 Peter 3:5-7
Man willfully forgets the Creation account, the global Flood, and the promise of fiery judgement to come. I can’t blame them; if I had no intention of bending the knee to Jesus, I would try my hardest to forget these inconvenient truths too!
But that doesn’t change their certainty.
It is by the word of God that these events occurred and it is by that same word that the reserved fire is preserved until judgement.
What a merciful God we serve.
