“This is my comfort in my affliction: for Thy word hath quickened me.” – Psa. 119:50
God’s word will resuscitate you, bring you back from the dead, and revive you.
Rev. Patrick Vincent
“This is my comfort in my affliction: for Thy word hath quickened me.” – Psa. 119:50
God’s word will resuscitate you, bring you back from the dead, and revive you.
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” – Col. 3:12-17
Our goal is not behavior modification, it’s transformation: help people love Jesus more.
“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” – 1 Peter 5:10
We are stablished, strengthened, and settled by the God of all grace, not on our own.
Suffering may be part of that.
This perfecting is all by virtue of our union in Christ.
“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.” – 2 Thes. 3:16
Jesus is the Lord of peace. He, Himself gives it. He gives it always in every way. Not as the world gives peace, but as He gives peace.
True peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of God.
“May God work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” – Heb 13:21
God works in us what is pleasing to Him.
And that, through Jesus.
I PRAY that God would make us love as Jesus loves.
To Him be glory forever.
“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” – 1 Tim. 1:15
Here we have 2 great concepts: the mission of Jesus and the humility of Paul.
“(God) who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,” – 2 Tim. 1:9
It is all from God. He is the cause, not us. He saved us, called us, according to His own purpose and grace – through Jesus in eternity past.
Wow, what a verse. Do we believe it?
“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness.” – 1 Cor.3:18-19
The older I get, the more I realize just how little I know.
“And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.” – 1 Cor. 8:2
Humbling verses!
“yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.” – 1 Cor. 8:6
It is through the Lord Jesus Christ that we live.
“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,” – Eph. 3:14
To whom do you bow your knees?
