“I am the man who has seen misery Because of the rod of His wrath.“ – Lam. 3:1
Hear the words of one intensely mourning.
“To be without afflictions is impossible here below, where man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward. Not to feel when afflicted, is a stoical and impious. But to sink under troubles is beneath the character of the Christian.” – James Meikle (1730-1799)
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” – 1 Thes. 4:17
Ever With the Lord
Our suffering is short, our reward is eternal
“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” – 1 Peter 5:10
We are stablished, strengthened, and settled by the God of all grace, not on our own.
Suffering may be part of that.
This perfecting is all by virtue of our union in Christ.
