The Wisdom of This World

“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness.” – 1 Cor.3:18-19

The older I get, the more I realize just how little I know.

“And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.” – 1 Cor. 8:2

Humbling verses!

Through God We Live

“yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.” – 1 Cor. 8:6

It is through the Lord Jesus Christ that we live.

Jesus is the Only Foundation

“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” – 1 Cor. 3:11

Jesus is the Only Foundation.

Plow In Hope

“Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope.” – 1 Cor. 9:10

As we work for the Lord’s kingdom, we do so in total confidence that He will bring the harvest.

The Gentiles Begged

“So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath.” – Acts 13:42

When was the last time you heard people beg that the Gospel be preached to them? What hunger for words of life. What thirst for truth.

This sort of searching is just what we need!

Those who seek will find and those who hunger and thirst will be filled!

Perfect Peace

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” – Isa. 26:3

We all want peace. What about perfect peace?

Perfect peace comes only from God and knowing His Son, Jesus.

God is able and willing to keep you in this divine calm.

It comes only to the one who keeps their mind stayed on God. Of course, that’s easier to do when you trust Him.

Trust God.

Stay your mind on Him.

And God will keep you in His perfect peace.

Holy Week: Saturday – His Body in the Tomb

After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus. And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, for the tomb was nearby.” – John 19:38-42

Holy Saturday is the somber day of reflection where Jesus’s physical body lay in the tomb.

Jesus’s enemies, the chief priests and Pharisees visit Pilate asking him to fortify the tomb, which he does.

Jesus’s followers have scattered and spent the day in profound grief, shock, and fear (John 20:19).

However, Sanhedrin members Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus boldly come forward to take care of their Savior. It’s noted that Nicodemus brings an exorbitant amount of burial spices (100lbs!), proving his conversion.

The Light has gone out and the world is darker more than ever in its absence.

However, Sunday is just around the sunset and the world would never be the same!

Saturday’s events are recorded in Matthew 27:62-66, Mark 16:1, Luke 23:56, and John 19:40.

Salvation Is Nearer

“Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” – Rom. 13:10-11

We fulfill God’s law when we love our neighbor. Very simply love is this: doing no harm to our neighbor and seeking their needs above our own.

The Lord’s coming is nearer than ever before. Therefore, love like never before.

We Are the Lord’s

“For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.” – Rom. 14:8

Uncertainties will surely always abound.

However, one thing is abundantly certain: we are the Lord’s.

We live to the Lord. We die to the Lord. We laugh to the Lord. We cry to the Lord.

In all things, we are the Lord’s.

Invitation During COVID-19

Every Sunday, at this time, I am giving an INVITATION.

It is more important NOW than ever:

Do you know Jesus Christ, my Savior?

Have you surrendered your idol factory of a heart to Him?

If you were die today, do you know where you will spend eternity?

It is only through Jesus that Man can be saved.

I beseech you today, heed His call: believe in Him and receive everlasting life.

Yours in Christ,

– Pastor Patrick
