“Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols.” – Acts 17:16
Not much has changed.
“For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.” – 1 Pet. 4:3
We have wasted enough time in our past indulging the flesh, look to Christ.
“Let all be put to shame who serve carved images, who boast of idols. Worship Him, all you gods.” – Psa. 97:7
Worship Him, not him.
“Their idols are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see. They have ears, but do not hear; noses, but do not smell. They have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk; and they do not make a sound in their throat. Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.” – Psa. 115:4-8
You become like your idol.
“What profit is an idol when its maker has shaped it, a metal image, a teacher of lies? For its maker trusts in his own creation when he makes speechless idols!” – Hab. 2:18

“Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love.” – Jonah 2:8
Do not forsake God’s steadfast love.
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths.” – Psa. 135:15-17

Keep refers to the uninterrupted vigilance shepherds show in keeping their flocks
