The LORD Is, 2

And the LORD passed before Moses and proclaimed, ‘The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,'” – Exd. 34:6

Some have a view of God that He is cruel and distant. However, this is the true nature of God.

Ascribe Greatness to Our God

“For I proclaim the name of the Lord: Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.” – Deut. 32:3-4

I stand with Moses.

Proclaim the name of the Lord.

Only greatness can be attached to His name.

He is the Rock; stable and sure.

His work is perfect; never to be questioned or undermined.

He knows only justice.

He is a God of truth.

He is righteousness, in Him is no turning.

He is upright, in Him is no leaning.

I stand with Moses.

Who is Like You?

Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?” – Exodus 15:11

Moses saw God’s plan firsthand.

He saw Pharaoh hardened his own heart seven times and then God harden His heart seven times. He saw God’s long suffering in delaying judgement. Ultimately, Moses saw God bring judgement to unbelievers.

Did Moses question God? Did he criticize God’s motive, ways, or plan? Did he accuse God of being unjust, cruel, or unfair?

Far from it. In fact, the opposite.
