“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” – Acts 2:42
This was the first century church. We want that kind of fellowship, don’t we? It starts by saying they were devoted to the apostles’ teaching.
Devoted is stronger in Greek; it means to give constant attention to, to stand ready. They were not falling asleep or distracted by other things – they were fervent. A modern equivalent might be; they were on the edge of their seats.
Are we devoted today?
